The first direct Internet highway between China and the USA is laid
The lining of fibre optic cable Trans-Pacific Express which has connected China and the USA is finished, writes «Lenta.ru».
The cable is laid on a bottom of Pacific ocean and became the first direct highway between these states.
The length of a cable has made 18 thousand kilometres, project cost – 1,5 bln. dollars the Maximum throughput of a cable - 6 terabit in a second. Six telecommunication companies participated in building Trans-Pacific Express: China NetCom, China Telecom, China Unicom, Chunghwa Telecom,Korea Telecom and Verizon.
Except the Chinese and American networks, to Trans-Pacific Express networks of South Korea and Taiwan will be connected. Also companies AT&T have joined the project and NTT Communications which namerenyi to prolong a highway to Japan.
Earlier the exchange of the traffic between the USA and China was carried out through channels of Japan and Hong Kong. According to the experts, the new cable will allow to reduce delay and to raise throughput of the American-Chinese communication lines.
