Siemens will pay 100 million dollars to the World Bank
German concern Siemens has reached agreements with the World Bank earlier accusing the company in bribery and conducting "black cash desks", means for payoff of officials in the different countries whence undertook. Siemens has agreed to list officially 100 million dollars in fund on struggle against corruption, besides, the company has agreed temporarily (for 2 years) to refuse the conclusion of contracts with bank structures.
In the World Bank say, that the today’s agreement represents last step Siemens to aspiration to restore the image which has been knocked down as a result of corruption scandals. Earlier because of the given scandal a number of large heads of the company have been compelled to send in the resignation, reminds CyberSecurity.
Earlier the consequence accused German concern to payment on bribes more than 1 mlrd dollars for the last years. At least in 10 countries (including in Russia) at Siemens suspicious contracts on delivery of the medical and power equipment have been found out. Separately in Bank speak about the contracts concluded by Moscow on delivery of a municipal transportation as they were financed from Bank funds.
In Siemens notice, that have voluntary limited participation of the company in tenders with participation of Bank till the end of 2010. Besides, the company withdraws all offers under the tenders, given out since January, 2009. According to representatives Siemens, in a year concern on contracts of the World Bank the manufacturer received all about 160 million dollars a year.
In December of last year Siemens has agreed to pay 800 million dollars in the form of penalties in the USA as the company here was accused of corruption. In Germany Siemens on the same charges has paid 596 million euro.
