SanDisk: flesh-memory will soon finish the existence

According to official representatives of corporation SanDisk, flesh-memory can disappear during the following of 10 years as will reach the resource.

Engineers SanDisk try to glance in the future of computer memory. It is supposed, that in due course data will be stored in three-dimensional files. Unlike the traditional flesh-memory, which cell place in a two-dimensional plane, in three-dimensional memory of a cell place in space, allowing to contain in one unit of volume much more the information.

At the moment the company deveops new type of 3D-memory with possibility of reading and a data recording which, in the end, can replace the memory of type NAND used everywhere in the diversified systems of a data storage and digital gadzhetah. According to scientists, such memory will come in the stead NAND within the next decade as the further escalating of two-dimensional memory will be economically inexpedient.

The certain investment in 3D-memory creation will be introduced by company Toshiba which works together with SanDisk, and also Matrix Semiconductor which has been acquired by corporation SanDisk one year ago.

Nevertheless, work in the field of traditional memory in SanDisk does not cease. Till the end of 2008 the technology of placing in one cell of three bats of data will be developed, and in 2009 in a cell it will be already possible to place four bits, writes CNews.
