Sales of desktop personal computers in Ukraine in the first half of the year 2008
Unitrade Group has published data on the market of desktop personal computers of the first half of the year
Market volume
By results of the first half of the year 2008 Ukrainians have acquired about 460000 desktop personal computers, having spent thus 215,3 mln. dollars of the USA. In comparison with indicators for the similar period of last year, in quantitative expression the market has decreased for 4,1 % (the first half of the year 2007 - 480000 pieces), in monetary expression the market has on the contrary grown n 3,5 % (the first half of the year 2007 - 212 mln. dollars of the USA).
In money terms the market of desktop personal computers has grown, despite decrease in quantitative volumes. It speaks growth of the average cost price about 442 US dollars in the first half of the year 2007 to 468 US dollars in the first half of the year 2008
In the general structure of sales of computers (the personal computer and laptops) the share of the personal computer following the results of the first half of the year 2008 has made about 57 % (the first half of the year 2007 - 69 %).
Price segmentation
In the first half of the year 2008 in comparison with the first half of the year 2007 there was a redistribution of shares of price segments. The tendency of decrease in a share of the bottom price segments has found continuation. The segment share «to 400 US dollars» was reduced to 6 items from 40 % in the first half of the year 2007 to 34 % in an accounting period. The segment «400 – 600 US dollars» was reduced from 48 % to 47 %. Sales of desktop personal computers in price ranges «600 – 800 US dollars» (c 9 % to 14 %) and «from 800 US dollars» (about 3 % to 5 %) have increased.
Formats
Following the results of the first half of the year 2008 on a share of the personal computers basing on microprocessors of company Intel, 68 % of the market, AMD – 32 % were necessary, in the similar period of 2007 of a share were distributed so: Intel – 63 %, AMD – 37 %.
The structure of sales from the point of view of the established volume of operative memory has undergone to essential changes. The segment «1024MB» from shares of 53 % (the first half of the year 2007 - 40 %) became the leader following the results of sales of the first half of the year 2008. The share of systems with 512MB operative memory was reduced from 53 % to 9 %. About 4 % to 36 % the share of desktop personal computers with 2048MB operative memory has grown.
Forecasts
By our estimations, in 2008 in the market of Ukraine it will be realised to end users about 1 100 000 desktop personal computers. In money terms the market will make 515 mln. dollars of the USA.
