Nokia tests the first LTE-modem
On September, 8th Nokia has presented the first Internet modem RD-3 working on the basis of technology of fourth generation Long Term Evolution.
«Nokia aspires to support all branch initiatives directed on development of LTE-technology that in 2010 start of the first networks on the basis of this technology in commercial operation was possible, – has noted Yani Maenpaa (Jani Mdenpdd), the manager of the project on maintenance of compatibility and tests LTE/SAE in Nokia. – Nokia is one of founders of the program of tests LTE/SAE (LSTI). The company conducts tests for compatibility with a number of manufacturers of network devices, co-operates with manufacturers of the measuring equipment and is ready to support to operators at expansion of networks LTE. Internet modem Nokia RD-3 is used in all these programs».
Internet modem Nokia RD-3 is compatible to networks of the senior generations - GSM/EDGE and WCDMA/HSPA, that allows to use as much as possible a global covering of networks GSM and possibilities of networks WCDMA before expansion of technologies of the fourth generation. Besides, Internet modem Nokia RD-3 supports various frequency ranges LTE thanks to what it can be used operators in the various countries and regions.
Within the limits of development of standard LTE Internet modem Nokia RD-3 is accessible to use by various suppliers of network devices, manufacturers of the measuring equipment and operators.
Technology LTE (Long Term Evolution – long-term development of universal land networks of radio access UTRA/UTRAN) represents the standard 3GPP for the future broadband networks of wireless access. This standard is evolution of networks of radio access WCDMA/HSPA. LTE becomes the important stage on a way to realisation of various multimedia IP-services of real time for users. Besides, LTE establishes reference points of high speeds of data transmission and small time of the response thanks to which end users will receive much higher level of service in comparison with modern technologies of broadband communication. Besides, by means of this technology the organisation of full-function access to the Internet in those areas where there are no fixed communication networks is possible.
