MTS declares new appointment
Open Society «Mobile Telesystems» declares appointment to the post of the president of Open Society "MTS" Michael Shamolina.
On May, 29th, 2008 Open Society Board of directors «Mobile Telesystems» according to the acting Charter has made decision to appoint to the post an individual executive office (president) of Open Society "MTS" Michael Shamolina, till the present moment heading business unit «MTS Russia» as the vice-president of MTS. Michael Shamolin has replaced on a post of the head of the company LeonidMelameda nominated to a post of president AFK "System", the largest shareholder of Open Society "MTS".
For two years during which Leonid Melamed supervised over MTS, the company has turned to world-wide recognised leader of telecommunication branch and the leading supplier of an innovative telecommunication service in the country, has increased user’s base on 24 million users, has carried out large acquisitions in Russia and Armenia. Realisation scale rebrendinga, the presence which have mentioned practically all regions of the company - thanks to successful activity on brand development became other key achievement of MTS for this period, following the results of 2007 of MTS for the first time among the Russian companies has entered into one hundred the most influential world brands. One of the sign moments for shareholders of MTS testifying to successful management by their investments, is growth of the size of dividends to recommended $3,12 on ADR in 2007 from $1,03 on ADR in 2005.
Michael Shamolin has come to MTS in 2005 on a post of the vice-president on sales and user’s service. A year later as a result of control system re-structuring, he has headed business unit "Russia" - the largest division of MTS supplying three quarters of incomes of group. During its management, incomes «MTS Russia» have grown on 67 %, a number of successful initiatives on use stimulation by vocal services, development of additional services thanks to what ARPU MTS for this period has increased twice has been thus realised.
