Management ISO and IEC opposes appeals concerning OOXML

Management ISO and IEC recommended to reject earlier submitted appeals from 4 countries concerning certification of the electronic format OOXML developed Microsoft, as the international standard.

In practice it means, that OOXML, most likely, remains in the rank of the international standard.

Let’s remind, that earlier the discontent with the assertion of format OOXML as the international standard was stated by Brazil, India, the republic of South Africa and Venezuela. These countries insisted on revision of decisions as spoke bout obvious minuses OOXML, and also referred to the procedural errors admitted during voting and the assertion of the given format.

In the documents published yesterday Technical advice ISO and the secretary general of this organisation Alan Brajden together with the secretary general of the International Electrotechnical Commission Aaron Amitom recommended to reject the submitted appeals.

The general advice of participants ISO is nominated to August, 4th and the decision on definitive acceptance or a deviation of appeals will be in that case accepted.

All other official comments in ISO while refuse. However the companies developing the open software, have already shown the discontent with the decision of management ISO, informs securitylab.ru
