Intel have fined on $25 million
The largest world manufacturer of microprocessors company Intel has been fined by South Korean antimonopoly regulating bodies on 26 mlrd ($25 million) for "competitiveness restraint in the market by granting of unreasonable discounts by buyers and to customers", informs CyberSecurity.
It is noticed, that Intel granted anything unreasonable discounts to such companies as South Korean Samsung Electronics, under warranties of that the last will not purchase company AMD production. However in Intel have noticed, that, probably, tey will appeal against against the decision of the Commission on fair trade.
The given verdict exactly reminds the decision accepted in 2005 by the Japanese trading regulator. Then Intel also have obliged to get rid of practice of selective discounts to a number of local manufacturers and sellers of the personal computer. Now similar investigations concerning Intel are conducted and in the several European countries.
In the message of the Korean regulator it is said, that Intel in May, 2002 has agreed to grant Samsung a number of privileges in exchange for warranties of that the last will not purchase chips AMD. Has received Samsung the stipulated bonuses in the spring of 2005. The similar agreement was at Intel and with company Trigem Computer, the second largest manufacturer of the personal computer in South Korea.
Company Advanced Micro Devices has found out the facts of the given agreements in 2005 and in May of this year has submitted some claims against Intel, accusing last in "the illegal methods directed on preservation of the monopoly position, at the expense of pressure upon customers".
Concerning the Korean decision in AMD have already stated the salutatory conclusion, having noticed, that "the antimonopoly body of the country has successfully opened and has stopped anticompetitive methods of company Intel".
According to agency Bloomberg, for the last five years share Intel in the South Korean market has made 91,3 %.
