Hitachi will continue production HDTV
Hitachi has made the unequivocal statement, that it will continue production non-profitable HDTV panels, also as well as hard disks - these two directions become the cores in the future activity of the company. President Hitachi Katsuo Furukava (Kazuo Furukawa) is inclined to consider, that demand for flat panels will intensively grow in the future, as is the basic reason of such decision.
The head of the company has declared, that sees potential regions of sales of TVs Hitachi in Brazil, China, Russia, India and other developing counties, besides, he believes, that HDTV will soon answer not only for telecasting, but also communications.
Next month Hitachi will open new network service Wooonet through which users can organise the work with the TV and the personal computer simultaneously. As to a growing demand for more and more thin and advanced panels systems from new series UltraThin should satisfy it.
In 2007 financial year Hitachi has lost an order of $1,062 million, the large part of these losses it is possible to charge to sales HDTV. In the light of recent developments, the company plans to expand foreign sales HDD from 42 % to 50 % in 2010.
Besides, during the application, Katsuo Furukava has noticed, that Hitachi also will concentrate on "green" technologies on purpose to reduce energy consumption by the products and to make them more ecologically friendly.
