Companies NXP and Siemens Mobility have reached agreements on technical cooperation on realisation of platform ATOP (Automotive Telematics On Board Unit Platform) companies NXP in the onboard single-crystal module on the basis of technologies GSM and GPS. After closing-up system ATOP will be presented the market for installation in personal cars, informs CNews. ATOP – the inexpensive and simple system in operation which uses existing mobile networks GPS/GSM and does not require creation of an additional expensive infrastructue, for example, stations of payment of road duties. Drivers can independently establish the onboard module in own car in some minutes. The system has functions of protection of data and largely simplifies process of the tax of duties. The beginning of commercial operation of system is planned on 1st half of 2010

Companies Siemens Mobility and NXP conduct joint workings out in this direction on purpose to create the inexpensive and practical decision for commercial application. Company NXP delivers a microcircuit and the base software uniting in all functionality, systems of the tax of duties necessary for effective work, such as modules GPS (system of global positioning), GPRS (the general service of a package broadcast) and NFC (Near Field Communication). Interfaces of the flexible appendices supplying the tax and data processing, for example, of an additional information about transport streams, including appendix Smart X guaranteeing high degree of protection, will be realised on a single-crystal platform which completely corresponds to systems of an automobile class. Company Siemens will supply working out of the onboard module into which will be integrated the single-crystal scheme and ON company NXP.

Thus, the new system of the tax of duties Siemens Mobility will have a much bigger set of functionality in comparison with the previous version. The onboard module developed on the basis of platform ATOP, accepts GPS-signals co the companion and uses standard GSM radio-technology for data transfer in the central system which is carrying out accounts. A system part also is the contour with the RFID-chip, representing a sticky label which is permanently pasted on a car windshield. This system establishes connection with the onboard module that will be convinced, that the module is established and used for the designated purpose. The system with the chip of radio-frequency identification can be used also and for other purposes, for example, for the control parkovochnyih places on parking.
