Chineses will create by 2010 petaflopnyiy a supercomputer

China has increased the means directed on working out of own microprocessor Godson so that already in 2010 to create on the basis of the given processor powerful petaflopnyiy the computer, has declared ZHivey Ksyu (Zhiwei Xu), the main technical director of Institute of computing technologies at the Chinese academy of sciences. The application has been made within the limits of the report presented Ksyu at conference Hot Chips, passing in Has fallen Alto, California.

20 years ago the Chinese authorities have considered unnecessary the nvestment into development of microprocessor technologies, a rate has exchanged only in 2001 when Chineses have seriously undertaken this sphere high-tech productions. Nevertheless time has been missed, and now the Chinese developers tail after at Intel, AMD and IBM.

However Chineses have firmly intended to break a situation. In 2006 the decision to increase financing in the field of microprocessor workings out was accepted. The result has not kept itself waiting long. Now Chineses have developed 4 models of processors Godson. Last year the bargain with STMicroelectronics on production and sale of the Chinese chips has been concluded. The Chinese processors by which commercial name Loongson has been pirated, are now used in leptopah and the television converters belonging to 40 companies.

In a month Chineses will finish creation of the new version of the processor, Godson 2g which will contain even more integrated schemes on one silicon plate so, its functionality and productivity will increase. And in a year developers from Celestial hope to create the main processor which would integrate also graphic possibilities. As we see, Chineses move in the same channel, as developers from Intel and AMD.

Multinuclear model Godson 3 is intended for servers. These processors should appear in 2009. They will contain 4 main things and 4 specialised nucleuses. Main nucleuses will work with frequency 1ГГц.

Processors Godson 3 become a basis for creation in 2010 of the high-power computer with productivity 1 petaflop (1000 billion) operations a second.

On a question of the American colleagues, the given plans are how much realistic, Kcю has answered, that it is extremely difficult, but quite an attainable aim. Also the scientist has noticed, that besides workings out exists also a problem of sales of the Chinese processors, it is necessary for China to find the markets for sale of the chips. For example, in the USA frostily enough concern idea of introduction of the Chinese IT equipment for work at the governmental offices as are not assured of maintenance possibilities by the Chinese systems of information safety.

Besides, application of processors Godson in the personal computer is braked that the given processors base on nucleus MIPS unlike architecture х86, used Intel and AMD. To start Windows on the computer with Godson, the special supplements intended for maintenance of h86-compatibility are required. However, thus Godson loses a significant part of the advantages.

Ksyu has noticed, that now because of work of the program supplying compatibility between х86 and MIPS, productivity MIPS has 40 %. Scientists plan to finish this indicator to 80 %.

The analyst Volume Hafhill (Tom Halfhill) from agency In-Stat is assured, that even if Chineses will make microprocessors only for home market, it will be very favourable to them as the Chinese market in itself is huge, besides, national manufacturers will not need to pay licence deductions to the foreign companies.
