C AMD and Nvidia all suspicions concerning exclusive arrangement are removed

The Ministry of Justice of the USA has finished investigation of prospective arrangement between AMD and Nvidia for the purpose of fixing of the prices for graphic chipsets, informs The Register referring to applications of representatives of both companies which have received corresponding letters from the ministry. To one of the indicated companies any sanctions will not be applied.

In 2007 company ATI which has purchased AMD, and Nvidia have informed, that have received from the Ministry of Justice the letter in which it was spoken bout the beginning of investigation concerning possible infringement from their party of the anti-trust legislation.

The summer of 2007 AMD and Nvidia had been presented the class action suit in which the companies were accused of arrangement to the purpose of a rise in price for graphic cards and GPU.

AMD and Nvidia denied the guilt. Nevertheless, to settle business, they have suggested claimants to withdraw the claim in exchange for indemnification payment which sum has made $1,7 million (each company has paid on $850 thousand). The offer was accepted.
