AMD will manufacture new GPU with support with DirectX 11
ATI, division on working out of graphic cards of company Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), has declared on Ceatec the plans to manufacture in 2009 new GPU, compatible with DirectX 11.
Besides, representatives of the company consider, that in the near future a wide circulation will receive so-called GPGPU (general purpose GPU — graphic accelerators which also can make calculations and execute other problems which have been not connected directly with display 3D-schedules).
Representatives ATI also have opened prosects of branch 3D-schedules calculated for the mass consumer. So, it is planned to transfer production GPU to 40-nanometer technological process, and also to introduce the standard of memory GDDR5. It will raise productivity of graphic chips, and, in the issue, will lead to creation of video games with even more difficult special effects.
According to representatives of the company, GPGPU will become more and more popular thanks to computing sheyderam DirectX 11 and OpenCL. Occurrence of some appendices which will give the chance to users to evaluate advantages GPGPU is expected, that, in the issue, will give bolshiy weight GPU in the opinion of end users. Besides, exit DirectX 11 and Windows 7 also will raise the importance of graphic processors.
And, at last, experts ATI expect in 2009 of significant improvement of technologies of input/conclusion of the information: touch technologies will evolve, basically, thanks to systems with Microsoft Surface. The TV with the permission, is more than 1920×1080 will appear next year together with so-called digital walls. Three-dimensional displays will use the increasing popularity.
Speaking about rapid development holographic and 3D-technologies, Rik Bergman, the general director of group on graphic cards AMD, has declared: «I can not arrive on Ceatec in 2018, but my hologramme there will be exact».
